Neighborhood workers rarely have long for lunch, so many restaurants in SOMA built a serious takeout operation. The archive shows how Ironside split its to-go service into three parts.
Lunch to go
A midday service covered pickup and delivery. Delivery reached SOMA, South Beach, Mission Bay and most of the Financial District, with a map of the delivery zone. Large orders needed to be called in ahead of time.
Between lunch and dinner
In the afternoon the kitchen kept making pizza and Cuban sandwiches. During this quieter window they were offered for pickup only, while delivery of those items returned at lunch and dinner times.
Dinner to go
An evening service worked the same way as lunch, with pickup or delivery until the kitchen closed.
Menus
Each of the three services had its own PDF menu. Online ordering existed alongside phone ordering. These arrangements applied in 2011 and are not a current service. See catering and the home page.
